Types of braces at orthodontics

If you believe that in today’s world, traditional braces are the only choice you’ve got, then we would like to let you know that you’re mistaken. Braces have been improving since forever, and the modern braces are not only equally effective but also near to invisible. Read on to discover some of the most popular types of braces that we offer at Paragon Dental, which provide incredible results.

1. Invisalign

The most popular type of braces is Invisalign, which uses clear aligners for straightening teeth that gently move teeth into the desired location. Our series of transparent Invisalign aligners are custom-made according to each patient’s teeth. The lack of metal wires or brackets makes them very discreet. They are even removable for you to enjoy your favorite dishes and maintain your oral hygiene. However, you must wear them at least 20 hours a day.

2. Self-ligating braces

Self-ligating braces are much like traditional braces. However, they are far more discreet than their conventional counterparts as they have ceramic or clear brackets. They also use clips to hold the wire in place, which enables you to quickly brush your teeth around the braces and keep your teeth clean.

3. Lingual braces

As the name itself suggests, lingual braces are for the lingual (tongue) side of your teeth. They will straighten your teeth from the inside while being hard to see from the outside. However, they look and function like any other braces. Only the brackets are custom-made to fit the irregular back surfaces of your teeth.

4. Retainers

Technically, retainers are not exactly braces. They are used to hold your teeth in their new position once the braces come off. However, their importance and role make them worthy of a mention. Retainers can be removable or fixed.
